SPRING 2011
We launched our tour in in five New York City schools in the spring of 2011.

"get your hall pass, get your freedom wit it."
In April of 2011, we launched this thing for real. Partnering with College for Every Student, we started with five schools in our backyard of New York City. Opening Acts, giveaways, college knowledge trivia, headliner performances and stories all helped bring this mission of dream attainment to life. Shout out to ScienZe for the Hall Pass mixtape -- the soundtrack of our work.
SXSW | March 5, 2011 | austin, tx
A little team bonding. ScienZe performed at SXSW and we decided this was the perfect time to get the tour's name out there. Austin prides itself on being the home of the weird, and we're weird too. (Real talk, who else is throwing concerts in schools?)

Ever have a magical moment where you know everything's going to work out? That was this stop. On a rainy evening in the Upper East Side, students lined up around the corner to their transformed "cafetorium." The energy was through the roof.
launch party | march 31, 2011 | nyc
We held a dope all-hands party to kick off our tour. Student Opening Acts from all five NYC schools came together for food, performances and quality time with community. It was an amazing way to get in alignment with the mission, and kick things off correctly.

Bed-Stuy, we love y'all! This was the first time we had students from other schools (and boroughs!) come and perform with each other. The Friday night turnup was real: little siblings, parents, security guards and community came out to celebrate dreams.
global tech prep | april 1, 2011 | nyc
Our first official concert! Global Tech Prep is a part of Citizen Schools where Holley, our tour host, served as a staff member. It was an honor to kick off our first concert with student opening acts, and a scholarship awarded by Scratch DJ Academy.
wadleigh | april 13, 2011 | nyc
The full band! Janelle brought out her band to the epic Wadleigh performing arts auditorium, (one of the most beautiful performance spaces in the city's school district). We featured poets, dancers and an original piano/hip hop piece that made its debut.
MS 45/S.T.A.R.S. Prep | april 4, 2011 | nyc
Ah, elementary school. Such a fun time. We had an opening act that performed Justin Bieber's "Baby" and he brought the house down.
